Photographs of ghosts and their revelations. The most breathtaking photos of ghosts that you have most likely never seen A phantom leaning over a sleeping person

The topic of the existence of ghosts can be approached in different ways. But in the history of photography there is a lot of evidence confirming the existence of a parallel world. Today, on the eve of Halloween, we are publishing a selection of 12 mysterious photographs.

This shot was taken at the family estate of the Marquesses of Townshed, Raynham, in 1936 by photographers Captain Provand and Endre Shira. According to his surviving memories, Endre noticed something like a cloud on the stairs and hurried to take a photo. The resulting photograph was published in Country Life magazine in December 1936 and was recognized as real evidence of the existence of ghosts.

Photo by Captain Provand and Endre Shira

It should be noted that the photographers arrived at the scene specifically on the instructions of the magazine “Country Life”, because many people had seen this incomprehensible figure very often. It is generally believed that this is the ghost of Lady Dorothy Townshed, wife of Charles Townshed, who lived on the estate in the early 18th century. According to neighbors, due to suspicions of treason, Charles imprisoned his wife in the farthest corner of the house, where she remained until the end of her days. The spirit of a woman in a brown dress was seen not far from the estate by other eyewitnesses.

This photograph was taken in the library of Combermere Priory by Cybell Corbet. It is believed that the image captures the ghost of Lord Combermere, a British cavalry commander who distinguished himself in several military campaigns and died due to being hit by an overturned horse-drawn carriage.

During the filming, which took about four hours, his funeral was taking place. It is believed that the photo shows one of the employees, but, according to Lord's relatives, at that moment everyone was attending a funeral four miles from this place.

The author of the photo, former clergyman Ralph Hardy, wanted to take some shots of the unusual spiral staircase in the Queen's House section of the museum. After developing the photographs for a while, the photographer noticed the vague outlines of a human figure holding onto the railing.

The photo attracted the attention of experts, including specialists from the Kodak company. After carefully examining the negatives, they came to the conclusion that the image was real. On this staircase people are still often seen, footsteps and voices are heard, and even traces of blood are found. According to surviving evidence, a maid was thrown from this staircase about 300 years ago.

The photo was taken by Ghost Research Society expert Marie Huff while exploring the abandoned Grove Cemetery on the edge of a forest in suburban Chicago, which is considered one of America's "favorite" haunted haunts with more than a hundred evidence of unexplained phenomena. Ghostly figures are seen in the cemetery, strange sounds are heard and shiny balls are seen.

At the time of filming, only employees of the organization were in the cemetery. After development, the silhouette of a lonely woman in a funeral shroud, sitting on a tombstone, was noticed in the photograph. Local residents say that this female silhouette and other ghosts in monastic robes are often seen here.

Photo taken by Terry Ike Clanton while photographing his friend in a cemetery. The friends wanted to take a black and white photograph in the style of the Wild West, and during the shooting they did not notice anything strange.

But in the printed photograph, Clanton noticed the figure of a man in a hat, who either appeared from the ground, or was kneeling and holding something similar to a knife in his hands. What is also strange, according to the photographer, is that the stranger does not cast a shadow.

The strange figure in the photograph is holding what appears to be a camera. In the process of analyzing the frame taken on film, experts came to the conclusion that the captured figure could not be the result of a double exposure of a real person.

Photos of ghosts and their revelations

There are many “ghost” photo collections floating around the internet. The earliest of these photographs caused a sensation in the 19th century, but in our time, people accustomed to Photoshop masters and more sophisticated fakes can only laugh at such photos. However, progress does not stand still, and with the development of the art of photography, falsifications are becoming more and more complex.

Ghost girl

In this photo, even without the arrow, you can see that there is a translucent girl hiding behind the baby. However, due to the fact that the baby has already acquired an anatomical addition in the form of an awl, he himself is partially translucent. Such photographs occur if you shoot with too long a shutter speed. During the time the shutter clicks, the baby manages to change his position a couple of times, and a completely alive and healthy girl can get in and out.

Monster in the forest

The human brain is designed in such a way that, having encountered familiar outlines, it completely independently draws the rest in order to see a familiar image. It is thanks to this phenomenon that people often find that, say, peeling plaster reminds them of their late grandmother. This is exactly the principle that works in this photo, plus, obviously, a minimum of retouching in Photoshop.

Ghost in the Mirror

The ghost, if it exists, will be translucent - everyone will agree with this. But if it is translucent, that means light is passing through it. And since the light passes through, how can such a ghost be reflected in the mirror? The ghost cannot. But an opaque person, standing in a certain place, can easily be reflected in the mirror without getting into the frame - as can be seen in this photo.

Night phantom

There are three people in this photo, and they are all alive. It's just night, the shutter speed is long, and one of them is moving too much. It is quite possible that this is the baby from the first photo, who has already grown up and even had his photo taken with his school friends.

The Ghost of Raynham Hall

This is one of the most famous photographs of the ghost. For quite a long time it was considered irrefutable evidence of the existence of spirits, until a professional photographer unraveled its secret by taking a whole series of similar photographs using the photo collage technique. Nowadays, this technology seems to be stone age.

Lincoln's Ghost

Here's another famous photo. On it we see the ghost of a famous person - the sixteenth President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. He stands with his translucent hands on the shoulders of his beloved wife. Sorry, widows. You don't need to be an expert in the field of photomontage to notice that the late president's face was inserted from another photo, and his hands were even drawn on the negative.

Monster in the dark

Monstrous monster in a dark corner. His eyes shine with a predatory redness. Although, no. If you look closely, you can see someone's feet in this frightening darkness. Victim of the red-eyed monster? May be. It could also be that this is a person with a backpack on which red reflectors are installed.

The phantom leaned over the sleeping man

Once again, the classic photograph of a ghost over a sleeping man. And not even a ghost, but perhaps death itself, look at her grinning skull. In the nineteenth century there was no computer graphics, and primitive editing was accepted by people with a bang. But in our time it seems quite obvious. And even ridiculous.

Black man

What a scary photo, isn't it? Not true! However, this photograph is often used as evidence of the existence of ghosts - despite the fact that the man depicted in a dark suit resembles a ghost no more than a sparrow resembles Benito Mussolini.

Dead man in a car

The low quality of photographs often makes it possible to find ghosts where their translucent foot has never gone. The frame is wide enough to hide the rest of the supposed spirit's head, and the interior of the car is so dimly lit that a person in dark clothes could easily pass for an invisible man or a ninja. And if the face is scary, it’s not otherworldly forces that did their best, but the laws of genetics.

“This photo was taken on my aunt's wedding day. It was 1942 and the photographer was photographing the newlyweds with a simple box camera. What could it be? Illusion (pareidolia)? A clever prank? Or is it really a real ghost?

“This photo was taken a few weeks ago when my friends and I went out into nature. A little boy seems to be peeking out from behind one of us. When I took this picture, he wasn’t there – just the seven of us, including me.”

“In 2008, my wife and I were on holiday in Normandy and visited the old cemetery and ruins of the cathedral in Grenier. I took the only photograph of a marble slab with the names of American paratroopers and French citizens who died in this place in 1944. The photo was taken on a digital camera and I did not view it until I returned home to Canada. To my surprise, I saw the figure of a soldier on my right hand. It is curious that the soldier turned out to be in black and white, although the photograph itself is in color. I am sure that at that moment there was no one except my wife and I in the cemetery. It seems to me that the soldier's uniform is similar to that worn during the First World War - with a cap and two rows of buttons on the jacket."

“I took this photo while traveling through East Texas. These three strange figures in black appeared in the photo. Who is this? Aliens? Ghosts?

“This is a photo of the Stanley Hotel. In one of the windows the translucent figure of a little boy is visible. “This photo was taken through a mirror in the restroom of the Weslaco Hotel in Texas, which was built in 1928. There are two girls in the picture, but if you look closely, you can see a third one on the right – in a hood, with a jacket thrown over her right arm and a basket in her left hand.”

This photo was taken in 2010. “We had guests and we decided to give them a tour of George Washington’s house. On the way back we stopped at a church where Washington often prayed. There are several graves near the church, the burials date back to the late 18th century. There is also a common grave of 34 prisoners of war who died in the camps. This is where I took a photo of my friend Joe. To our collective amazement, this red head appeared in the photo floating in the air.”

“I took this photo in February or March 2008 in Spokane, Washington. I lived in the same house where I took care of an elderly woman. At that moment I was just bored, and I started clicking the camera and, to my horror, I saw this. I turned on all the lights, the TV and called my boyfriend because I was afraid to be alone with this horror.”

“I took a photo of my husband while we were fishing at one of the lakes in Wisconsin. There is no boat station on this lake, and there are no houses in the area either. “I was looking through my photographs, and suddenly I noticed the shadow of a man in a hat at the end of the corridor. At first I thought it might be a damp stain - but it wasn't. Notice how this shadow falls on a large stone. In addition, even the upturned edges of the “hat” are visible.”

“I live in Ravenna, Ohio. In May 2007, my son took a photo of our house. We were all shocked to see an unknown child in one of the windows. “My daughter and friends went to San Antonio (Texas). On the way, they stopped at a place where a terrible accident once occurred - a bus with children overturned, many of them died. My daughter took several photographs at this place. When the film developed, in one of the photographs we saw this figure - it looked like a little girl with a teddy bear in her hands.”

"My nephews were fooling around, playing with tiger cubs. I took a photograph of them and found in the picture some kind of creature watching the children from the screen of a switched off TV. Dark face, the left side is shadowed. There is nothing in the room that could give such a reflection, and even "If there was, it should have been close to the TV and large enough. Later I found out that the previous owner of the house shot himself."

“We have been studying paranormal phenomena for a long time. We were recently invited to check an old hotel in Arkansas for this subject. In one of the photographs taken in the corridor, this strange figure appeared.”

"This photograph was given to me by a colleague in a photo studio. I have been printing photographs for 10 years and have never seen anything like this. I know that in the photograph there is a church located in France, and that he took it with the simplest camera. It seems as if someone walks through the doors, and that he/she is holding a bomb with a fuse. The woman who ordered the photographs was so horrified that she did not even pick up her order.”

“When my parents took a photo of my brother and me, they didn’t see anyone’s face on the screen. The TV was turned off at that moment.”

"This photo was taken several years ago. It shows my sister and a boyish face that seems to be watching her from the TV screen. The TV was turned off, you can see it - otherwise you could see the name of the channel in the corner of the screen. Alleged the boy is wearing a shirt, at least not a white collar is clearly visible on his neck - the kind choristers wear. I know that on the site of our house there once stood a monastery."

“This photograph was taken on the site where there was a hospital in Queen Victoria's time. Our family now lives there. My wife and I decided to restore some of the premises and take before and after photographs.” After we began to discover strange figures in the photographs, strange things also began to happen in the house itself. The housekeeper of the old hospital used to live in our house. Such orbs appear in many photographs and faces are clearly visible in them.”

"My eldest son took this photo. I don't even know what to think about it."

This photo was taken by the wife of the coach you see in it. "Take a closer look at the top right corner and you will notice three translucent figures. The photo was taken with a digital camera in the early evening. This place was once a bar and dance floor where sailors gathered - that's all I know."

“This photo was taken by my mother when she went to London in 1985. The store in the picture is located in the Hampstead area and it was closed. At that time, my mother had her own clothing retail business, and this facade interested her in some way. "The figure of a man is clearly visible on the glass. Note that in order to get a reflection of that size on the glass, a person must be standing directly in front of it. But there was no one on the street. By the way, this store has been gone for a long time."

“In this photo, the girl’s ghost is clearly visible, but still not as clear as the man standing next to him.”

“What could this mean? When I photographed my great-great-grandfather, my great-great-grandmother had long been gone.”

"Our music group went to an abandoned ranch to shoot a video and take some pictures for the album. No one was around - just us. But when the photographs were developed, one of them found a strange figure in the background. A few years ago, one of our members "The band died in a car accident. We were on our way to our concert, our bassist Jimmy was driving the van. We all escaped with minor injuries, but Jimmy was unlucky."

“A couple of years ago, a girl from New York named Stacy had an accident in her Volkswagen and spent a long time in the hospital. When she recovered, her boyfriend called her and said that he had fixed the car. After a while, he drove the car to Stacy’s parents’ house The girl was so delighted that she decided to take a photo of the guy next to her updated “bug”. And when the photo was developed, the girl’s mother asked how she got into the back seat of her new car (it’s behind a VW). But this is completely impossible - Stacey was standing with a camera at that time. And a reflection of such a large size could not have turned out. How can I explain this?”

“This photo of the “gray lady” was taken in Cramer, Pennsylvania in 1977 and caused a stir in the local media at the time. The photographer swears that when he took pictures, there was nothing like this in this place.”

“This photograph was taken by my sister’s friends during a tour of an old Scottish castle. The figure, which is clearly visible behind the hugging couple, does not give the impression of a ghost. It looks like a portrait of a girl that has not fully developed. But how could this happen?”

“My mother took a picture of me and my friend during Halloween 1989. We were 13 years old. And only many years later, looking at the photograph, we noticed another strange dark figure in this picture - it looked like a guy about our age.”
